What types of drift fishing charters are common?

Deep Sea fishing is the most popular type of fishing for drift fishing as well as inshore fishing, nearshore fishing, and flats fishing.

The most commonly sought after species for drift fishing are: 1. redfish, 2. speckled trout, 3. flounder, 4. black drum, and 5. cobia.

How much do drift fishing charters cost?

Prices for drift fishing can range anywhere from about $575 to $3,100, but the average price for a half day trip for drift fishing is $1,032. The average price for a full day trip for drift fishing is $2,424.

Is booking a fishing guide worth the money?

Hiring a guide provides a number of benefits and many choose to book a fishing guide for a combination of experience, local knowledge, convenience, and cost-effectiveness.

Working with experienced fishing guides who know the best local spots and techniques can dramatically increase your odds of a great day. Having someone who is on the water every day and knows the area like the back of their hand is going to give you the best chances of success.

Booking a guide is also more cost effective, especially if you only get out a handful of times per year. When you consider all of the costs you would incur on your own such as the price of a boat, maintenance, insurance, gas, high-quality gear and tackle, repairs, and more, you’ll find that DIY is sometimes not worth the expense.

Even if you’ve got a great setup already in your home waters, booking a guide also provides a great opportunity to experience new techniques, new locations, or even a chance at a new target species to knock off the bucket list.

What month is best for going on a drift fishing charter?

The most popular season to go on a drift fishing charter is summer, and most anglers book their trips 35 days in advance.

Do I need a fishing license and what are the bag limits?

See here for more information on fishing licenses, bag limits, and fishing season regulations. When in doubt, your fishing guide will always know the right rules and regulations.

Joey put us on the fish almost instantly once we stopped. First drop all 4 poles hit an it was hard to make time for lunch or drinks with our deck hand Linda keeping us lock an loaded with bait and tackle. Great people an a great time! Deff would recommend these guys for any of your fishing trips!

    Trip: 3 Hour Inshore/Offshore

We were quite disappointed in our experience. Cade is a nice young man, but asked us nothing about our fishing experience or expectations for the day. Our first fishing spot was about 300 yards from the launch ramp where we caught about 5 or 6 fish, with the biggest being about 8 inches. We then traveled about 35 minutes to the second location which was under a highway bridge.. We caught about 4 or 5 fish, with the biggest being about 10 inches. I understand that the guide cannot be responsible for the fish caught but it seemed like we were in locations that were targeting smaller fish. For the cost of the trip, we were expecting more of a "Gulf charter fishing experience." I would recommend not using this venue.
