What types of topwater fishing charters are common?

Deep Sea fishing is the most popular type of fishing for topwater fishing as well as inshore fishing, nearshore fishing, and flats fishing.

The most commonly sought after species for topwater fishing are: 1. redfish, 2. speckled trout, 3. flounder, 4. black drum, and 5. mangrove snapper.

How much do topwater fishing charters cost?

Prices for topwater fishing can range anywhere from about $500 to $2,100, but the average price for a half day trip for topwater fishing is $879. The average price for a full day trip for topwater fishing is $1,458.

Is booking a fishing guide worth the money?

Hiring a guide provides a number of benefits and many choose to book a fishing guide for a combination of experience, local knowledge, convenience, and cost-effectiveness.

Working with experienced fishing guides who know the best local spots and techniques can dramatically increase your odds of a great day. Having someone who is on the water every day and knows the area like the back of their hand is going to give you the best chances of success.

Booking a guide is also more cost effective, especially if you only get out a handful of times per year. When you consider all of the costs you would incur on your own such as the price of a boat, maintenance, insurance, gas, high-quality gear and tackle, repairs, and more, you’ll find that DIY is sometimes not worth the expense.

Even if you’ve got a great setup already in your home waters, booking a guide also provides a great opportunity to experience new techniques, new locations, or even a chance at a new target species to knock off the bucket list.

What month is best for going on a topwater fishing charter?

The most popular season to go on a topwater fishing charter is summer, and most anglers book their trips 33 days in advance.

Do I need a fishing license and what are the bag limits?

See here for more information on fishing licenses, bag limits, and fishing season regulations. When in doubt, your fishing guide will always know the right rules and regulations.

AMAZING!!! Our trip with COREY was exactly what we had hoped for. My husband and I took our 2 young boys fishing with Corey and he was so great with them. It was our fish time fishing salt water, and he made it a breeze. He was so good with the boys and was on top of everything the entire time. Not only did he bait their hooks, help them when reeling in and getting fish off the line, he taught them and encouraged them as well. He was so great!! Corey also had a great personality and my entire family felt like he was someone we’ve known forever. He was really an easy-going guy to be around. The weather wasn’t really in our favor, but Corey went above and beyond to make it happen for the boys. He also cleaned the fish, of course, and did it in good time. He was punctual and communicated very well :) Money well spent, and we will definitely be booking with Corey when we come back to the beach again. Great guy and great trip! :) He’s your man.

We had a great experience with Corey. He had a very nice, clean, newer boat with all new fishing poles that were top of the line. He was very patient as we had three new fisherman onboard including our 6 year old daughter and her grandmother. You can't beat a morning out on Port Aransas waters.

Lee met us at 7 am at the dock, myself and 4 teenage rambunctious boys. Took a 40 minute ride out to the gulf of America. Dropped lines and started pulling them in ! What a great job Lee did ! 4 hours later we left with 3 bags full of filets ! Don’t sleep on this charter company ! We will be back again !!!!!
