"No words can do justice to what an exciting couple of hours we had". Sam looks back on his Islamorada fishing trip Florida Snook all day long with Captain Ben of Captain Experiences.
Thanks for checking in and see below for Sam's review of his Islamorada fishing trip with Captain Ben of Captain Experiences.
When my father put me in charge of finding a Marathon, FL fishing charter for us to book a trip with during our vacation, I didn’t really know where to start. I knew Jonathan had started a website that helped with just that so I reached out to him.
He quickly sent me a link to all the guides in the area available for booking through Captain Experiences. After browsing and reading reviews we decided to book a trip with Capt. Ben Trainer of Leatherneck Back Country Fishing and couldn’t be happier we made that choice.
We decided to book Captain Ben because he offered the exact kind of trip we were looking for. My dad brother and I wanted to fish light tackle and see the back country and we got to do just that.
The morning started out with a ride through beautiful scenery up into Everglades National Park. On the way we rode through beautiful water past many mangrove islands and saw more ospreys than we could count. Almost all were eating a small mangrove snapper or large mullet atop a channel marker. I half jokingly said that seeing all the birds with fish must be a good omen. That ended up proving to be true.
Once we got to the spot, Captain Ben showed us how to hook our baits (live shrimp) with a jig head. A method that was new to me but proved very effective. Shortly after throwing his rig right up against the mangroves like Ben told us, my brother had our first snook on board. After that it was game on.
For the next couple of hours we reeled in one after another. We spent more time with at least two rods bent over than we did with nothing on the line and on multiple occasions all three of us had a fish on.
No word can do justice to what an exciting couple of hours we had. We caught a Sheepshead, a small Jack Crevalle, some Speckled Trout and more Snook than we could count. Seriously, we stopped counting after the first hour of fishing. At the end of the day we guessed it was at least 40 and that’s a conservative guess, it definitely could have been more.
Capt. Ben was great at at getting us on the fish and very enjoyable to be around, he made sure we had a great day. As I said earlier I could not be happier with our decision to fish with him and am very thankful that we were able to book with Captain Experiences.
