What is black seabass fishing in Mount Pleasant all about?

In Mount Pleasant, black seabass fishing adds an exciting dimension to the local angling scene. Black seabass are a prized species known for their tasty flesh and feisty fighting spirit. These fish inhabit the nearshore and offshore waters along the South Carolina coast, favoring rocky bottoms, wrecks, and artificial reefs where they can find shelter and abundant prey. Anglers are drawn to the challenge of targeting black seabass, which can provide a rewarding catch and a delicious meal.

Anglers in Mount Pleasant utilize a variety of techniques to target black seabass, with bottom fishing being a popular and effective method. Using bait such as squid, cut bait, or small fish, anglers present their offerings near the ocean floor where black seabass are known to congregate. Patience and persistence are key when bottom fishing for black seabass, as anglers must wait for the subtle taps and tugs that signal a bite from these bottom-dwelling predators.

Furthermore, vertical jigging is another successful technique for targeting black seabass in Mount Pleasant. Anglers drop specialized jigs or rigs to the bottom and jig them up and down to mimic the movements of small baitfish or crustaceans. Black seabass are known to be aggressive feeders, making them susceptible to well-presented jigs. Anglers can experiment with different jigging motions and colors to entice strikes from black seabass in various depths and locations. Whether bottom fishing or vertical jigging, mastering these techniques can greatly enhance anglers' chances of landing black seabass in the coastal waters of Mount Pleasant.

What are the most popular months to fish for black seabass fishing in Mount Pleasant?

In Mount Pleasant, the seasons for targeting black seabass are influenced by various environmental factors such as water temperature, spawning behavior, and migratory patterns. Generally, the prime season for black seabass fishing extends from spring through fall. During this time, warmer water temperatures stimulate increased activity among black seabass, prompting them to move closer to shore and inhabit nearshore reefs, wrecks, and artificial structures where they can be targeted by anglers.

Spring marks the beginning of the black seabass season in Mount Pleasant, as water temperatures rise and baitfish populations increase along the coast. Black seabass become more active and begin their migration toward shallower waters, where they are known to congregate in large numbers. As summer progresses, black seabass fishing tends to peak, with anglers encountering larger concentrations of these prized fish feeding voraciously on abundant prey.

In the fall, black seabass fishing in Mount Pleasant may continue to be productive, although the abundance of these fish may start to taper off as water temperatures begin to cool. However, dedicated anglers can still find opportunities to target black seabass, particularly in areas with relatively warmer water temperatures or where baitfish concentrations remain high. Understanding the seasonal patterns and behavior of black seabass can help anglers maximize their chances of success when fishing in the coastal waters of Mount Pleasant throughout the year.

Adrian was just awesome! He kept us up to date on weather and was flexible with date/time to make sure we went out at the best time. He got there early to make sure we were all set with plenty of bait and extra rods and reels ready to go. He even had an extra hat and sunglasses for our 16 yo who forgot his. He knew the best fishing spots and locations at each spot. He could cast within inches of his intended target, was very knowledgeable about the fish, and helped us release the sting ray and gar we accidentally caught. Very pleasant, hard working and very experienced! You can’t go wrong with Adrian!

We had an incredible day fishing with Captain Adrian! He was awesome lining up the best time of day to fish ahead of time thru great communication. While we didn't expect to catch a bunch since we were early in the season, we caught a BUNCH of fish - completely lost count it was such a good day - all catch and release. Adrian did a great job keeping our lines in the water from baiting hooks to fixing a few snags to getting fish off the hooks. Adrian was awesome! Highly recommend!! What a great day...

Our two boat trip was absolutely electric. First off, Capt. Chris' boat was perfect. For the price point, you'd be hard pressed to find a better fishing charter deal out of Charleston. The second boat in our group was equally as nice. Both boats were super comfortable, we just sat in the back on beanbags and drank beer as we raced out about 40 miles offshore. The guides gave us an in depth safety talk before taking off and took every safety precaution available, they definitely found a happy medium between fun and safety though. They were also very well informed about what was in/out of season, and the parameters for keeper fish. On first drop, we had 2 really nice red snapper hookups. Once that bite ran cold, we wasted no time, hopping around to multiple different locations, filling the cooler up with vermillion and other good eating fish. Even got a few 5+ foot sharks for the young'n that was with us. He was so stoked! We ran into a bit of weather but that didn't phase the guides, they had contingency plans to keep us busy. We elected to run deeper to avoid the thunderstorm that formed between us and the land, which meant we got a few extra hours of fishing (no complaints). The highlight of the trip was chumming up a cobia feeding frenzy right on the surface before we booked it back to the marina. Any time you can topwater fish for cobia, you're in for a treat. We almost landed a trophy cobia before a 8+ foot shark breached the surface and completely annihilated it about 20 feet off the back of the boat. It was so primal, none of us cared that we lost the trophy. I recommend these guys to anyone, beginners or lifetime anglers. Will definitely be using them again!
