Fishing Report from Captain Darius
"We have had a couple cold fronts come through in the last few weeks. Water temperature is between 50-51 degrees. Inshore fishing is a slow bite this time of year. However, even though the bite is slow and fish can be hard to find, this is the time of year that fish will school up thick. It’s a great time a year to find trout and redfish. My favorite time is if you can find a low tide stage during mid day with sunny conditions. I love to fish the outgoing tides later in the day. Past three days on a warming trend will make it even better. I find that dock fishing is great this time of year. I like to fish the docks with barnacles and oysters all over with around 7 to 9 feet deep at high tide. Right before and after a tide change is my favorite. I like the currents to be moving slow enough to get a 1 quarter OZ. Jighead to the bottom. Fishing bottom is key. Live shrimp is my favorite but dead shrimp will work as well. As the day progresses and the flats have the right amount of water you can target redfish around slough entrances to flats and oyster rakes. Soft plastics and suspending hard plastics are great for the flats right now. Sheepshead is also another good fish to target as well. They can be found around downed trees or bridge pilings and prefer fiddler crabs. Trout won’t be aggressive but will be holding deeper between 10-18 ft. A great bait to use is a scented soft plastic jerk shad or live shrimp." - Fishing Report from Captain Travis
