trip description for Mosquito Lagoon Flats in Mims

This trip is for big trout and giant red fish, I mainly target trout in the summer months catching 20-60 trout a trip from 4 to 15 pounds, 100% some of the biggest trout you will come by. We will fish in a foot too about 2 ft of water. Also I target the big reds for a fun fight and a nice picture! Mosquito lagoon is like fishing in the middle of no where with great scenery and great fishing! I only have one boat rule, and it’s that you guys use the sunscreen I provide, which is Neutrogena zinc based SPF 50. I have plenty on the boat ready to go. Other types, including other zinc types, but especially spray types and chemical based types, cause damage to my boats gel coat and upholstery, leaving orange stains that can be permanent. The zinc type I provide is hypoallergenic, works much better than other types of sunscreen, contains no chemicals implicated in potentially causing cancer, and is non toxic to marine life. This is a strict rule so please do not bring or apply other sunscreen ahead of time. Read More

trip description for Awesome Saltwater Fly Fishing in Allenhurst

You will be sight fishing from the bow of a flats skiff in the Mosquito Lagoon or Indian River Lagoon. Despite the scary name, there are no mosquitoes on the water. With clear skies and water, you can see fish within casting distance. In addition, we look for tails, fins, and wakes from single fish, groups or schools. Year round targets include redfish (red drum), spotted seatrout, and black drum. Seasonal catches may include tarpon and snook. Your captain has nearly 20 years of guiding experience specializing in sight fishing these waters. Capt. Chris is a certified fly casting instructor with the FFI for those wanting to improve their cast. Fly fishing in this area is primarily sight fishing which means you are casting at specific targets. 7 weight rods are used most often with 5, 9, and 12 wt rods for specific species. This trip is not for beginner level fly anglers due to the need for speed and accuracy in casting. I can provide all tackle and flies at no additional charge, or you may bring your own. In the event conditions for fly fishing are not optimal, spinning tackle will also be available on board. Fly fishing trips are usually started at first light unless otherwise dictated by weather or other factors discussed in advance. All trips are catch, photo, release only. Read More

What species are popular for fishing in Port Canaveral?

Port Canaveral, located on Florida’s Space Coast, is a prime fishing destination known for its diverse marine life. Anglers here can target a variety of species depending on the season and location. In the deeper waters offshore, Port Canaveral is renowned for its King Mackerel and Cobia fishing. King Mackerel, or "smokers," are usually abundant during the warmer months, particularly in the summer. They are fast, powerful fish that provide an exciting challenge for sport fishermen. Cobia, on the other hand, can be found in the spring and early summer, often around buoys and other structures. These fish are known for their strong fight and are highly prized for their taste.

For those looking to fish along the beaches or in the surf, Pompano is a great target, especially in the spring and fall. These fish are known for their delicate flavor and can be caught using sand fleas or small jigs. Additionally, the waters around Port Canaveral are home to various species of Snapper, with Mangrove Snapper being a common catch in the inshore and nearshore waters. These fish are both fun to catch and excellent table fare, making them a favorite among local anglers.
