trip description for Inshore, Flats, & Backcountry Trip in Vero Beach

The Indian River (originally name the "Rio de Ais") is a 156 mile long brackish waterway with an average depth of 4ft and widths varying from 0.5 to 5 miles. Heavily lined with mangrove forests, sandy islands and hidden oyster beds makes it one of the most unique fishing experiences out there. Our favorite species to target are Snook, Tarpon, Redfish, Trout and Snapper. Starting at sunrise we'll head across the flats and into the backcountry. Using light tackle and/or fly rods we'll check all the nooks looking for the larger predator species feeding in the early morning like Tarpon. As the sun rises we will work our way to the flats and sight fish reds, snook, and trout. Every trip is different and we'll find what's running and what they're hitting. It's always an adventure. trip description for Dock Light Fly Fishing in Jupiter

Head out after dusk with Captain Dino for this action-packed nighttime fishing adventure. Oftentimes, getting fish to go after flies is a tall order—not so with these excursions. Dock lights create the conditions for a true feeding frenzy for predatory fish like Snook, Jacks, and Tarpon, among many others. How it Works: Like moths to a light, baitfish gather in schools under dockside lanterns and specialty bulbs. And where there's bait... you know there's gonna be bigger fish looking to snag an easy meal. Snook are especially prone to feasting under the lights, along with Jacks, Lookdowns, the occasional Redfish and Snapper, and even Tarpon when they're migrating through. Usually, after you catch one or two fish out from under the lights, the spot is blown up, but luckily there are plenty of dock lights to explore in the Jupiter area! Captain Dino encourages you to bring your own gear, but he can also provide you with all the rods, reels, tackle, flys, and instructions you need to get on the fish. Please note: Flyfishing is a technique that really improves with practice. Captain Dino can provide all the necessary tips, advice, and lessons to help you out, but practicing your cast in the days leading up to the trip is always a great idea to improve your chances of hooking into your next trophy fish! trip description for Awesome Saltwater Fly Fishing in Allenhurst

You will be sight fishing from the bow of a flats skiff in the Mosquito Lagoon or Indian River Lagoon. Despite the scary name, there are no mosquitoes on the water. With clear skies and water, you can see fish within casting distance. In addition, we look for tails, fins, and wakes from single fish, groups or schools. Year round targets include redfish (red drum), spotted seatrout, and black drum. Seasonal catches may include tarpon and snook. Your captain has nearly 20 years of guiding experience specializing in sight fishing these waters. Capt. Chris is a certified fly casting instructor with the FFI for those wanting to improve their cast. Fly fishing in this area is primarily sight fishing which means you are casting at specific targets. 7 weight rods are used most often with 5, 9, and 12 wt rods for specific species. This trip is not for beginner level fly anglers due to the need for speed and accuracy in casting. I can provide all tackle and flies at no additional charge, or you may bring your own. In the event conditions for fly fishing are not optimal, spinning tackle will also be available on board. Fly fishing trips are usually started at first light unless otherwise dictated by weather or other factors discussed in advance. All trips are catch, photo, release only. Read More

trip description for Offshore Fly Fishing in Jupiter

Pelagic game fish are the ultimate flyfishing challenge. Captain Dino uses the live chum “bait and switch” technique whenever he can to get the fish fired up and maximize your success rate. With Captain Dino, you'll spend your trip chasing electrifying saltwater predators such as False Albacore, Mahi-mahi, Blackfin Tuna, Mackerel, Amberjack, and many more—all on the fly. You'll typically reach the best spots after a quick haul offshore. Captain Dino pilots a 27' Onslow Bay, powered by twin 350hp Mercury Varado 4-stroke engines. She has the ability to hold 14 rigged fly rods, as well as 2 live wells for your bait and dual sonar/radar fishfinders. There isn't a better boat out there. In addition to his expertise, the Captain will bring the rods, tackle, water, and all the required licenses. To maximize your experience on the water, bring a pair of polarized sunglasses, sunscreen, a camera for those epic shots, and appropriate clothing. Read More

trip description for Nighttime Flyfishing Special in Jupiter

Head out with Captain Craig to fly fish the inshore waters around Jupiter, FL at night, when boat traffic is minimal, the water is calm, and the fish are hungry. Nighttime is a great time to catch prizewinning fish, which can be more aggressive at night when they're at less risk of getting eaten themselves. To find these fish, you'll cast towards dock lights where the fish congregate, and then get ready to set your hook! Fly fishing at night is a unique fishing experience, and definitely something to check off your bucket list whether you're an experienced fly angler or a conventional fisherman looking to try something new. You'll be targeting the Florida classics: Redfish, Snook, and Tarpon. These gamefish love to come out at night, so you'll have many opportunities to cast at trophy specimens under the dock lights! On the night of the trip, you'll be fishing from Captain Craig's 24' Travis bay boat, powered by a 250HP Suzuki. It's a perfect craft for fishing this inshore area, and is decked out with everything you need for a comfortable and successful trip. Captain Craig will bring all the gear, including fly rods, reels, bait, and tackle. All you need to remember is proper clothing—there's no sunscreen necessary for this night trip! Read More

Hiring a guide provides a number of benefits and many choose to book a fishing guide for a combination of experience, local knowledge, convenience, and cost-effectiveness.

Working with experienced fishing guides who know the best local spots and techniques can dramatically increase your odds of a great day. Having someone who is on the water every day and knows the area like the back of their hand is going to give you the best chances of success.

Booking a guide is also more cost effective, especially if you only get out a handful of times per year. When you consider all of the costs you would incur on your own such as the price of a boat, maintenance, insurance, gas, high-quality gear and tackle, repairs, and more, you’ll find that DIY is sometimes not worth the expense.

Wow! We had the most amazing fishing trip yesterday with TJ! My nephew can't stop talking about it! We spent 4 hours out fishing and caught several different types of fish including jack fish and a barracuda. TJ spent time with him, showed him how the equipment on the boat worked, and helped him find and reel in the fish- he was wonderful. The time went by too quickly! The boat had plenty of snacks, he even had some sunscreen when I realized I forgot ours in the car. Thank you so much, TJ, for an amazing 4 hour trip that is the highlight of my nephew's summer vacation!

Capt. Steve did an awesome job keeping our crew of six old salts on fish while battling the wind and unseasonably cold weather. We landed fish and were happy with our day out. Capt. Steve was professional and personable.

Getting out on the water with Dino was an awesome experience. He provided extensive instruction on both casting and fish tendencies. Not to mention the pristine gear, and more importantly, some belly laughs. Highly recommend for any fly fishing experiences in the greater Jupiter/Palm Beach areas.
