Galveston fishing charters, Rockport fishing guides, and Port O' Connor captains are all reporting fantastic inshore fishing conditions for Speckled Trout, Redfish, and Flounder. The wind's definitely picked up along the Texas Gulf coast, but the underlying fishing conditions couldn't be better as we head into summer.
No surprise here, but the Louisiana Redfish bite is ON. Meanwhile, Chris continues to catch and release beautiful Rainbow Trout on Oklahoma's Broken Bow. See below to learn what they're catching 'em on!
"East Galveston Bay at Big Hanna's Reef is holding Speckled Trout using live shrimp and croaker. The side shoreline is good for Speckled Trout and Redfish wading with top water and soft plastic. Overall, the fishing has been slow. As soon as the wind slows down the Galveston Jetties will turn on." - Captain Mike Cacciotti
Great map of Galveston Bay Complex oyster reefs thanks to TPWD & TAMU.
"The Redfish bite is great at the Galveston Jetties. Pick a date without wind and come on!" - Captain LG Boyd
Nice Redfish caught with Captain LG today
Another one for Captain LG's crew!
"Rockport topwater action continues to be amazing! Look for fish over grass and scattered shell in 1-3 ft of water. We’re seeing good action on popping cork and shrimp. Marker54 makes a jerk shrimp that is as realistic as there is, and throwing Down South Lures super model and Marker 54 mullet run while working the lower third of the water column over grass, sand pockets, drops and edges is deadly!" - Captain Larry Bell
Captain Larry with a nice Speckled Trout from a while back.
" As of late we have super high tides, which allows us to focus on a lot of new real estate to fish. We are catching a lot of speckled trout and flounder on flats close to deep creeks. When chasing redfish we are choosing to fish muddier and grassier ponds with stained or dirty water mixed with bait. Bait of choice for speckled trout we are using 3-4" paddle tails and for redfish we have been using small top waters and or Spanish sardines." - Captain Brandon

"Drop shot rig in submerged vegetation in 15-20 ft deep." - Ander Meine
Nice Stillhouse Bass caught with Ander.
"Today I had the pleasure of filming Louisiana Outdoors Adventure with Kevin Ford. We started off targeting Speckled Trout but with the gusty winds and muddy water the conditions were not fishable. We changed scenes and headed into the marsh where we found Redfish hanging in pockets ,cuts, and points. It was a short time later we had our limit!! Special thanks to Kevin and Gem it’s always a great time having y’all aboard. - Captain Jimmy Corley

" March Brown nymphs with a size 26 midge emerger below were the best this week so far. Its been since 2016 pre flood that MB's were this prevelant." - Chris Schatte
