Grunts are typically caught using simple bottom fishing techniques, making them accessible targets for both beginners and experienced anglers alike. Anglers typically use light to medium tackle, paired with a basic bottom fishing rig consisting of a sinker and a hook baited with shrimp, squid, or cut baitfish. By presenting the bait near the bottom, anglers increase their chances of enticing strikes from grunts, which are known to feed along sandy bottoms and around reef structures.

Another effective technique for catching grunts in Port Orange is drift fishing. Anglers can drift over areas with sandy bottoms or reefs while casting out baited hooks behind the moving boat. In addition to bottom fishing and drift fishing, anglers in Port Orange may also find success targeting grunts using artificial lures. Grunts are known to respond to small jigs or soft plastic baits bounced along the bottom, particularly in areas with sandy or muddy bottoms where they feed. Anglers can experiment with different lure colors and sizes to find what works best for enticing grunts in the waters off Port Orange. By mastering these fishing techniques, anglers can enjoy a rewarding and enjoyable experience targeting grunts while exploring the scenic waters of Port Orange.

Wow!! IF YOU WANT TO GO SEA FISHING YOU HAVE TO GO WITH CAPTAIN NICK!!! So we turned up to a pretty chilly and windy meeting spot, thinking why hasn’t this been postponed to another day, surely we can’t got out in this weather. How wrong we were. Captain Nick arrived early assured us we would be fine and we would be fishing the river and not going out to the ocean, but he was pretty sure we would still catch some fish. When we started fishing within the 1st half hour we had caught 2 huge fish , the rest of the afternoon was spent tracking fish and catching them. Captain Nick and his mate answered all questions that were asked of them, their knowledge of the area and their love of fishing was clearly evident. They made this fishing trip, one that a 12 year old kid from England will remember forever. Thankyou Captain Nick for the experience
