trip description for Lower Keys Flats Fishing in Cudjoe Key

Florida Keys flats fishing is like no other experience in the world! Here, you can cast right to the fish and watch them smash your lure in gin-clear water. This style of sight fishing combines some of the best of fishing and hunting into one epic saltwater adventure! Your main quarries here are Bonefish, Permit, and Tarpon, but there will also be opportunities for Barracuda, Redfish, Jacks, and even small Sharks. Lower Keys fly-fishing affords world-class fishing just minutes from the dock. Captain Dale runs his charter out of Cudjoe Key at Mile Marker 21, but he charters Lower Keys fishing trips from Key West and the Marquesas to Big Pine Key and Marathon. Newcomers, experienced anglers, and all skill levels in between are welcome. Captain Dale have fished the Lower Keys for many years, so he's got the experience and patience to make your trip a success. Although he specialize in fly fishing, he is more than adept at spin fishing with light tackle and has all the necessary gear. As he navigates the shallow flats, you'll witness an abundance of wildlife below and above the water's surface. **What to Bring** Polarized glasses — We'll be sight fishing and so polarized glasses are a must. Sunscreen — There is no shade on the boat so you'll need sunscreen and protective clothing to protect you from the South Florida sun. Food and Drink — I provide a cooler full of ice and water, but you need to bring whatever else you'd like to eat and drink for the day. Rain gear — I try to keep us out of the chop and rain, but sometimes its unavoidable, so rain gear is a good idea. Camera — Most of the fishing we will do is catch and release, so you'll want to capture your memories on camera. You may bring your own gear if you'd like, though Captain Dale will supply top of the line rods, reels, line and flies as well. Sometimes there's nothing like the feel of a familiar rod or the thrill of catching a fish on grampa's classic. Just make sure your gear is up for the task. A good rule of thumb, is to make sure your gear is ready to go before we leave the dock. Sometimes the best fishing is just as the sun rises and you don't want to miss an opportunity due to poor preparation. Read More

trip description for Full Day private fishing charter in Key West

Catch More fish! A full day allows us more time to go further, try more techniques, target more species, and ultimately catch more fish. A full day usually leaves the dock around 7:30 a.m. and returns around 3:30 p.m. However, these times may vary depending on the time of year, conditions, and customer preference. His vessel, a 28' center console (built by Latitude Tournament Boats), is a true "hybrid" fishing machine. This means that on a nice day, you can comfortably fish offshore reefs, wrecks, and Gulfstream currents. You also have the option to fish backcountry channels, inshore wrecks, and nearshore patch reefs if the wind picks up. On a full day, we might have the opportunity to target multiple species both in the deep and the shallow. Captain John specializes in light tackle fishing. This means he'll match the rod and reel outfit to the size fish you're targeting to make for the best overall angling experience. If you would like to fly fish, the captain can accommodate you. However, you must bring your own fly fishing equipment. Expect to target Amberjack, Barracuda, Tuna, Wahoo, Mahi Mahi, Grouper, and more, depending on the length of your trip. Evening Tarpon trips are also offered. Live bait makes a big difference. Pilchards, pinfish, herring, ballyhoo, and blue crabs are some of the varieties you are likely to find in the livewell. Catching bait is part of the charter, and while it may take some extra time, your captain knows it makes the difference between a fantastic fishing trip and one that's just okay. Your fishing license is included. Bring sunblock (non-spray), sunglasses, a hat, snacks, and drinks. Book your trip and hit the water today! Read More

trip description for Big Pine Key Action in Cudjoe Key

Down in the Lower Florida Keys there is a lot to see more than just fishing! The wildlife is plentiful and interesting with a wide variety of birds, turtles, stingrays, and dolphins. Every time Captain Robert has a trip or a charter, people seem to be captured by the scenery there in the lower keys backcountry as well as having a successful fishing trip with Captain Robert! Light tackle fishing on the flats gives you better opportunities with sight fishing Permit, Bonefish, Tarpon, and Redfish. Light tackle fishing makes itself the most common and versatile type of fishing with just about anything you can think of catching. Light tackle makes a great day out on the water in producing numbers of fish like Mangrove Snapper and Jack Crevalle which is great for the kids. Another possible great opportunity for kids is Bonefish believe it or not. For light tackle fishing Captain Robert provides all rods and reels for the trip. If you have a fishing rod that you would like to bring you are more than welcome to. Read More

Down in the Lower Florida Keys there is a lot to see more than just fishing! The wildlife is plentiful and interesting with a wide variety of birds, turtles, stingrays, and dolphins. Every time Captain Robert has a trip or a charter, people seem to be captured by the scenery there in the lower keys backcountry, as well as having a successful fishing trip! On this 4-hour trip, Captain Robert will motor you around the Florida Key inshores where you'll be chasing after some elusive Tarpon. You can target these hard-fighting fish with light tackle or fly rods. Going at night when the Tarpon like to feed will give you opportunities to land one on your line when the fish are most active! There's also nothing like being on the water as the sun goes down. Light tackle fishing on the flats gives you better opportunities with sight fishing Permit, Bonefish, Tarpon, and Redfish. Light tackle fishing makes itself the most common and versatile type of fishing with just about anything you can think of catching. Light tackle makes a great day out on the water in producing numbers of fish like Mangrove Snapper and Jack Crevale which is great for the kids. Another possible great opportunity for kids is Bonefish believe it or not. If you would like to do some fly fishing, feel free to bring your rod and Captain Robert will accommodate you! Fly Fishing is one of the most unique and challenging ways to go after saltwater species. It's especially true when going after bonefish, tarpon, and permit. Captain Robert suggests bringing a 9wt fast action fly rod with a good saltwater reel which is the most ideal for Bonefish, Permit, Jacks, Barracudas, Sharks, and small Tarpon. A 10 or 12 weight fly rod and reel is ideal for Big Tarpon, Big Sharks, Barracudas, and Permit. Captain Robert provides all fishing licenses, light tackle rods, reels and tackle, and an ice box. All you have to bring is any food or drinks you might want on the water as well as a fly rod if you want to fly fish. Book your trip and get ready to fight some Silver Kings! Read More

Had a great day fishing with Captain Brandon. We caught a lot of fish, including barracuda, snapper, nurse and lemon shark. Brandon kept moving around to ensure that we stayed on the fish. We've fished with a number of guides over the years and Brandon was one of the best!

First off, there was some confusion with the first Capt. we were booked with and he didn’t have us on his schedule. I called the cust service line and Adam took great care of me. He showed genuine concern and was able to get us booked with Capt. Bob. 5 stars for Adam. We enjoyed our trip with Capt. Bob. He was knowledgeable and accommodating, got us into some fish, and coached us on casting. Great guy! I would recommend Capt. Bob for anyone interested in fly fishing the flats.

Joe M. with Bob B. of Summerland Key, Florida

Brandon was fantastic. We went out on the coldest day of January, 2024 and we still caught fish. Brandon is extremely knowledgeable of the area and how to fish it, informative and extremely patient, especially with a beginning like me. I couldn’t have been happier the way the day turned out. I caught some beautiful Snapper for dinner and then some Barracuda and Sharks for sport. I highly recommend his services and he would be my first choice on a return trip to the Keys. Thank you, Mark Maynard
