trip description for NC Mackerel Trip in Morehead City

Get ready to chase down some of the Atlantic's tastiest and most exciting gamefish in the blue waters off of Morehead City, NC with Captain Jeffrey. Mackerel—both the smaller Spanish and the larger King species—are widely known for their crazy fighting ability and are a challenge for any angler, no matter how experienced. These fish will leap high out of the water trying to throw your hook, and they'll test your drag reel as they head for the horizon at top speed. These fish often school, so you'll troll at a medium depth, looking to attract them with a variety of lures and baits. Once a Mackerel grabs your hook, get ready for the fight of your life! These fish are fast and will fight you for every inch of line. You'll get off the dock aboard your guide's 24' Carolina Skiff—a great type of boat for fishing everything from flats to estuaries to nearshore waters. It's powered by a 200 HP Suzuki engine, so you'll be on the fish in no time at all. Captain Jeffrey will come prepared with everything you need for a great day, including rods, reels, bait, and tackle. He's an expert in these waters and will do everything he can to get you hooked up on a personal best! Bring along proper clothing, sunscreen, and a pair of polarized sunglasses to maximize your time on the water. Read More

trip description for Disabled Vet Fishing Project in Morehead City

This is a fishing trip unlike any other. When you get off the dock with Captain Joseph, you'll be stepping into more than fifty years of legendary fishing history. The fine vessel you'll be taking out is no ordinary boat, but the boat that initially inspired the bestselling book, "Jaws" and the world-famous film that followed. Your Captain was a mate on that boat when it landed the still-standing world-record Great White Shark—a 3,427 pound monster fish that remains the largest fish of any species ever landed on a rod and reel. The vessel itself is 42', completely one-of-a-kind, handcrafted Chesapeake-style fishing boat, built in 1947 by Tiffany Boat Works, now Tiffany Yachts. It was completely restored by a North Carolina nonprofit, in order to begin its new mission: taking disabled American veterans out on the fishing trip of a lifetime. The purchase of your charter trip allows an equally-sized group of American heroes the chance to get out there for free. In his own words, these trips have a huge impact: "Before my eyes, I watched a quiet group of men, who had boarded the boat timid and cautious, transformed! We engaged the group in conversation, drew them out individually and showed each how to fish for speckled trout. After just a few hits, the men started joking that they were now expert fishermen. The more fish they caught, the livelier they became. When the day drew to a close and we headed in, I invited my “experts” to come up top and drive the boat. When we arrived back at the dock, the smiles on these heroes’ faces were beyond explanation. It was as if they had a whole new outlook. One vet remarked he had no idea fishing was so much fun. These fishing trips aboard the Cricket have the potential to change people's lives. I saw it that day." Obviously, in addition to going after massive sharks, you'll have the opportunity to troll and cast out for a variety of top sportfish, from Mackerel to Mahi and more. Whether you're a seasoned angler or a first-timer, this trip is an unmissable chance to learn about Montauk, about fishing history, and to catch some great fish for yourself while giving back to your country's military heroes. There's simply nothing like it. Read More
