trip description for Lobstering Trip in Key West

Lobstering is a great experience for kids and adults and very rewarding to eat if caught. I like to make it as simple as possible for you I’ll be helping you step by step so you can succeed in catching them in shallow waters around Key West. The first couple of days it’s best to leave as early so no one gets to the spots before we do, but don’t worry I have lots of secret spots and usually limit out on every trip. I’ll have all the gear you need nets, sticks, mask, fins, gloves and bags to put your catch in while you keep looking. It’s best to bring a pair of socks and a snack for after you swim and I’ll have ice water in the cooler. Read More

trip description for Key West Tarpon Hunt in Key West

What's better than Tarpon fishing in the Florida Keys? Doing it twice in one day! Whether you want to spend a half day or a full day hunting these "Silver Kings," the highly-rated Captain John has you covered. Hop on his 24' Yellowfin and chase the first biters in the morning, and if that's not enough, stick around for more prime-time tarpon fishing at sunset! Tarpons have become the most sought-after game fish in the Florida Keys. This mammoth migrates up and down the coast filling up the bridge passes and backcountry waters. Tides, weather, and moon phases play an essential factor in a Tarpon’s behavior, but these kings are always hungry, biting on both live and artificial bait. We recommend going after these fish between March and August. Your adventure will begin at the dock as Captain John explains what you can expect on your trip. No detail will be left out or question unanswered in order to make your trip exciting, educational, and memorable. Be sure to bring any beverages or snacks you might need, and Captain John will provide everything else. Read More

Is booking a fishing guide worth the money?

Hiring a guide provides a number of benefits and many choose to book a fishing guide for a combination of experience, local knowledge, convenience, and cost-effectiveness.

Working with experienced fishing guides who know the best local spots and techniques can dramatically increase your odds of a great day. Having someone who is on the water every day and knows the area like the back of their hand is going to give you the best chances of success.

Booking a guide is also more cost effective, especially if you only get out a handful of times per year. When you consider all of the costs you would incur on your own such as the price of a boat, maintenance, insurance, gas, high-quality gear and tackle, repairs, and more, you’ll find that DIY is sometimes not worth the expense.

Even if you’ve got a great setup already in your home waters, booking a guide also provides a great opportunity to experience new techniques, new locations, or even a chance at a new target species to knock off the bucket list.

My families trip with Captain John was awesome. John is a humble, hardworking, easy going, chill, dude and fit right in with our families vibe. He was great with our 5 year old son and answered all of his many fishing questions. John made it clear that between the time of year and conditions that day we would have to really work at it to get anything. That’s exactly what we did and we ended up catching a good amount of fish. Most importantly our 5 year old son, who is obsessed with fishing, had the time of his life and caught fish he’s never seen before. 5 stars, highly recommend. If you have a small group this is the charter to go on!

Hunter and his crew were excellent, it was a first time going lobstering so they made everyone feel very safe and comfortable going over everything in detail and going with us to enure our comfort and saftey. Althugh we did run into some weather they worked very hard to get us on lobsters and work around the weather. The first time we drop in the water there my friend had a lobster right under him within a minute. As weather progressed they even gave us credit since we couldn't stay out the entire time even though it was already a great experience. We will be back again.

Antonio was a fantastic captain and I had a great time with him on our lobster hunt. The boat is very comfortable and Antonio is a GREAT guy! He is very skilled and managed to get our limit of lobsters - making the tour a great choice for a beginner who doesn't yet know the ropes of lobster hunting. After the tour, he also cleaned them and put them in a plastic bag and gave great tips on where to go to get them cooked. Happy to return anytime - THANK you Antonio for the great trip!

Captain Tony was amazing! Very knowledgeable and accommodating. Took us to a few great spots and showed us how everything was done. If it wasn't for him, we wouldn't have caught our limit of lobster! Even got to spear a nice grouper, for the icing on the cake. He put in a lot of hard work! So thank you for that. This was this highlight of our trip down here to Key West. 10 out of 10. Would do again.

We had an amazing time with Capt Antonio. Got our limit of lobster quickly then had plenty of time to sight see and find dolphin and manatee. Enjoyed some beach time as well. Prompt service, great local guide, friendly experience. Definitely recommend and we will use this same guide again.
