Hiring a guide provides a number of benefits and many choose to book a fishing guide for a combination of experience, local knowledge, convenience, and cost-effectiveness.

These sleek and predatory fish are known for their sharp teeth, impressive speed, and acrobatic leaps when hooked. Barracuda inhabit both nearshore and offshore waters, often found around reefs, wrecks, and other structure-rich areas where they hunt for prey. While not as commonly targeted as some other species, barracuda provide anglers with exhilarating fishing experiences and the chance to test their skills against a powerful opponent.

Anglers targeting barracuda in Panama City can employ various techniques to entice strikes. One effective method is trolling with high-speed lures or rigged baits behind a boat, covering a wide area in search of barracuda hunting near the surface. These fish are known for their aggressive strikes on fast-moving lures, making trolling an exciting and productive technique for targeting them. Anglers may also find success casting and retrieving artificial lures such as spoons, plugs, or flashy jigs, mimicking the movements of baitfish to attract the attention of hungry barracuda.

Furthermore, barracuda can also be targeted using live bait such as mullet, pinfish, or ballyhoo, either freelined or fished under a bobber near structure or along drop-offs where these fish are known to congregate. Live bait presentations can be particularly effective for enticing strikes from larger barracuda, which often lurk near the bottom or in deeper waters. Five of us did the 8 hour trolling and bottom fishing. It was an amazing experience from start to finish and we caught a barrel of fish including vermilion snapper, triggerfish, grouper and an Atlantic bluefish. We caught and released several out of season fish as well. Captian Kyle and Mate Danny are super friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and made the trip an outstanding one. We were all first timers and they made us look and feel like seasoned pros.

Highly Recommend!! Great experience for us with Captain and Mate Danny. They got us on fish the whole trip and there was never a time when one of our group wasn’t yelling fish on and sometimes with multiple fish on. Mate Danny was a legit machine preparing the rugs, removing fish and baiting hooks. Our fishing group of 3 was able to have a great Fish Taco Tuesday with our house group of 16 with all the fillets that they prepared for us. A fantastic experience for my teenage boys and myself. This crew left an everlasting experience with our family. And the fish tacos I prepared were almost as close to legendary as the fishing trip. FISH ON!

Great trip, Kyle and Danny worked full time plus to get us on fish and get those fish into the boat. We limited out on red snapper and caught several other fish as well. Overall a good day of fishing , next time we will make it a longer trip hoping to find the bigger fish by getting out further and finding the more isolated spots holding some biggies. Thanks to both for a great trip. Jerry, Mike, Shelby and Peyton

Captain Alex was great. It's been a rainy week in FL, and he was able to squeeze us in. He knew all of the spots. Multiple people had mentioned not catching anything the day we went out, and our group caught our maximum limit. We've concluded in order to have a great fishing experience you need the right captain, Alex is just that. We even were able to go shark fishing for about an hour and caught two sharks. Alex was easygoing, kept us safe, accommodated us, and made should we had a great experience. Next time we are back we definitely will be using Alex!

We had a perfect day fishing with Captain Alex! The morning was beautiful, the fishing was excellent, and the fresh caught mingo for lunch was delicious! We are experienced offshore and inshore fishermen from the Texas Gulf Coast and the Laguna Madre, so we can state with authority that Captain Alex is a great guide and I would highly recommend him and the Silver King to anyone looking for a good time. Thanks Alex from me and my son, Blake!
