trip description for Captain’s Choice: Troll + Shark in Destin

The Captain’s Choice charter trips include 1 hour of light tackle trolling, followed by 4 hours of shark fishing! Fun for the whole family! We are located behind Dewey Destin’s on the harbor. We share a parking lot with Luther’s Pontoon and Dewey’s. Please pull all the way down the hill to the water the morning of (free parking) and we can get everyone loaded up. We recommend you bring drinks/snacks and sunscreen. It will be hot! But we do have AC inside the boat as well as a restroom. We leave the dock at 5:30am so we ask if you could try and come a few minutes early so we can get everyone signed in and load your bags on the boat. A run down of our trolling charters: We have out 3-4 rods at a time and are continuously moving. We will pull lures through the water as we cruise through the Emerald Coast. You'll get to see an amazing sunrise (and probably some dolphins). Our targeted species are king Mackerel, Spanish mackerel, and bonitas. Light tackle trolling is fun for all ages, and the bite lately has been great first thing in the morning. A run down of our shark fishing charters: We make our way to our shark fishing spot, which is only about 10 mins away/less than a mile off shore. Then we will then throw the anchor and chum the waters with carcasses from the previous day and get our 3 big shark rods out. We have them all at different levels, one at the bottom, one mid-water and one floating on top. After we get those out and everyone is comfy we will get a couple of bottom fishing rods out to try and catch some snappers, trigger fish, etc. This is what we will do while we wait for the shark bite. The sharks will smell our chum and come to us so we have to be patient. Once we get the shark hooked up, we will get all of the other rods reeled in, throw the poly ball connected to our anchor and fight the shark. This way we can move with the shark and back down on him if needed. I hope this was helpful! Please let me know if you have any questions. We look forward to fishing with y'all. Read More

What is blacktip shark fishing in Destin all about?

In Destin, Florida, anglers have the opportunity to target a variety of species, including the blacktip shark, known for its powerful runs and acrobatic leaps. Blacktip sharks frequent the waters around Destin, particularly during the warmer months when they migrate closer to shore in search of prey. One of the most popular methods for targeting blacktip sharks in Destin is surf fishing from the area's pristine beaches. Anglers cast out large baits such as mullet, ladyfish, or cut bait and wait patiently for the unmistakable strike of a blacktip shark.

Another productive technique for catching blacktip sharks in Destin is boat fishing in the nearshore and offshore waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Anglers venture out on charter boats equipped with heavy-duty tackle and specialized shark fishing gear. Using chum to attract sharks to the boat, anglers deploy baited lines or drift fishing rigs to entice blacktip sharks. Once hooked, blacktip sharks provide anglers with thrilling battles, showcasing their strength and agility as they make powerful runs and leaps out of the water.

Moreover, anglers can also target blacktip sharks during the annual migration season, which typically occurs from late spring to early fall. During this time, blacktip sharks move in large numbers along the coast, providing anglers with excellent opportunities for catch-and-release shark fishing adventures. Whether fishing from shore, boat, or during migration season, blacktip shark fishing in Destin offers anglers an adrenaline-pumping experience and the chance to reel in one of the ocean's most iconic predators.

What are the most popular months to fish for blacktip shark in Destin?

In Destin, Florida, blacktip sharks are present in the waters year-round, but their activity levels and abundance can vary depending on the season. Generally, blacktip sharks are more commonly encountered in Destin's waters during the warmer months, from late spring through early fall. Anglers can expect increased activity and more frequent encounters with blacktip sharks during this time, making it an ideal season for those looking to test their skills against these powerful and acrobatic fish.

While blacktip sharks may be less prevalent during the cooler months of late fall and winter, they can still be found in Destin's waters, particularly in nearshore and offshore areas. Anglers targeting other species such as redfish, trout, or sheepshead may also encounter blacktip sharks incidentally while fishing in these waters. Judah and his crew were amazing. We slaughtered 60 red snapper in 4 hours. We also reeled in 2 sandbar sharks. Judah was steering excellently and the crew worked their tails off to make sure we could immediately recast after reeling in a catch. The custom boat was also a great touch with a nice rearfacing bench for resting from catching so many fish. Definitely book these folks

We fished with Capt'n Blake on the 32 Sportsman. Blake was friendly, energetic and most of all, he was determined to put us on the fish. My 13 year old son and his friend were with us, and Blake was extremely attentive and helpful with the youth anglers. I would highly recommend Capt'n Blake, and Captain Experiences, and I would book this same exact trip again if given the opportunity. Tight lines!

captain Marvin worked hard for us fishing was rough with conditions of the day would book again . only thing was when paying the bill I was surprised to find out that my $138.00 deposit and 35.00 taxes was not part of the total trip price quoted. the final price with deposit and taxes came out to be $863.00 not $690.00 and that's what I paid . plus including tip of $120.00 witch I felt was deserved Not sure why this came out this way but I found this misleading quoted $690.00 total price paid $863.00 plus tip I was told that that's the way it works at captain experience . not the way I was use to
