Head out with Seth for a bowfishing excursion unlike any other with one of Central Texas' best guides. Seth runs trips around five local lakes and some great rivers here in Central Texas and is one of the most experienced guides out there! Whether you're an experienced bowfisher or a first-timer, Seth will show you everything you need to start hitting fish. After the safety discussion, if necessary, he'll demonstrate how to use the bowfishing equipment, give you specific details on how to aim, and let you sling a few arrows in order to get a feel for the equipment. After that, you'll get out there and start bowfishing! Seth will adjust the draw weight of our bows to your comfort level, so that women and children can enjoy a night on the water. The average weight that we shoot is approximately 30 lbs. For kids 12 or over we will decrease the weight of the bow down to around 18 lbs. Most women that go out with us tend to shoot around 25 lbs. of draw weight. Your allowed to shoot several different types of ruff fish in Texas with no daily bag limit including Longnose Gar, Spotted Gar, Common Carp, Buffalo, Freshwater Drum, Grass Carp and Shad so plenty of shot opportunities. We will also go over all the equipment and coach you through out the trip to help you get on target and have a awesome trip making memories! We're located in Central Texas near Waco, TX, and we fish 5 local lakes and a few rivers within 50 mile radius of Waco Tx. We can accommodate larger groups or corporate trips into several different boats with a 2 week notice! Each boat will include your Guide, Deckhand, Bows & Gear, Fully Rigged Bowfishing Bow, Ice and Water. You don't have to be a pro to go on one of these trips. Seth takes plenty of couples and even young adults and children (12 or older) that have never even shot a bow. He will have you whacking fish in no time. He specializes in taking the time to explain everything and answer any questions you may have. Seth provides his clients with the best equipment available. All of the bows and gear are top of the line and everything you need to bow fish is supplied—all you need to book a trip is a current Texas fishing license. Also, make sure you wear some comfortable shoes and clothes that you don't mind getting a little dirty. Seth will take care of the rest. You'll be shooting from the deck of his 2018 Boat Rite Custom 22' center console. It features a full deck over, perfect for bowfishing, and a 10' deck and 26 70-watt LED lights that will light up the water like daytime. The boat is also equipped with a 200 HP Yamaha Show motor, and holds six comfortably. The boat has 6-8 life jackets on board, plus all the proper safety gear. Seth also provides a cooler with ice and drinks. If you prefer different beverages or snacks please, go ahead and bring them with you. Seth usually likes to meet at the boat dock or marina of the lake or river we will be fishing so let us know if you have a preference based on where you staying, Showing you a great time and putting you on plenty of fish is his main goal. We have been guiding for the past 10 years and will definitely show you a good time! Read More

You'll be in a perfect place to catch over ten species of freshwater sportfish, all while surrounding yourself with some of the best scenery this part of the state has to offer. From November to February, Texas Parks and Wildlife stocks this section of the Brazos with Rainbow Trout, so you can get a Rocky Mountain fly fishing experience without having to leave the state. Everything to Know About Booking a fishing trip in Texas

What are the best garfish fishing trips in Texas?

Why should I book a garfish fishing trip in Texas with Captain Experiences?

Our Damn Good Guides currently offer 7 garfish trips in Texas, and the most popular trips in the area are Central Texas Bowfishing guided by Randy, Brazos River Drift Trip guided by Ben, and Resinater Bowfishing Charter guided by Dustin.

Our guides in Texas are rated a 5 out of 5 based on 3301 verified reviews on Captain Experiences.

All guides on Captain Experiences are licensed, insured, and vetted by our team. You can access their reviews, click through trip photos, read bios to get to know them, and preview trip details like species, techniques, group sizes, boat specs and more.

Looking for kid friendly garfish guides / fishing lessons in Texas? Check out our beginner and family friendly garfish guides in Texas.

What types of garfish fishing trips are common in Texas?

River fishing is the most popular type of fishing for garfish in Texas as well as lake fishing.

The most common fishing techniques in Texas are fly fishing, bowfishing, and artificial lure fishing but wading and sight casting are popular as well.

How much does a Texas garfish fishing trip cost?

Prices for garfish in Texas can range anywhere from about $355 to $3,045, but the average price for a half day trip for garfish in Texas is $630. The average price for a full day trip for garfish in Texas is $2,418.

Is booking a fishing guide worth the money?

Hiring a guide provides a number of benefits and many choose to book a fishing guide for a combination of experience, local knowledge, convenience, and cost-effectiveness.

Working with experienced fishing guides who know the best local spots and techniques can dramatically increase your odds of a great day. Having someone who is on the water every day and knows the area like the back of their hand is going to give you the best chances of success.

Booking a guide is also more cost effective, especially if you only get out a handful of times per year. When you consider all of the costs you would incur on your own such as the price of a boat, maintenance, insurance, gas, high-quality gear and tackle, repairs, and more, you’ll find that DIY is sometimes not worth the expense.

Even if you’ve got a great setup already in your home waters, booking a guide also provides a great opportunity to experience new techniques, new locations, or even a chance at a new target species to knock off the bucket list.

What month is best for garfish fishing in Texas?

The most popular season for garfish fishing in Texas is summer, and most anglers book their trips 22 days in advance.

Do I need a Texas fishing license for garfish and what are the bag limits for garfish in Texas?

We had a great float trip! Our guides, Cody and Mitch were fantastic!! They were very knowledgeable of the river how to get us on fish. We had a beginner that had never fly fish before and Cody and Mitch were very patient with teaching him how to cast and catch fish on a fly rod. I would highly recommend these guys for fishing on the Brazos!
