A fishing charter in Pensacola/Gulf Breeze, FL, is the perfect way to experience the Gulf Coast's rich fishing opportunities. On this trip, you'll head out to chase a wide range of inshore and nearshore species on either fly tackle or ultra-light tackle, both of which are a blast for anglers of all levels. Captain Richard is an expert when it comes to fish here off the coast of Pensacola/Gulf Breeze, and he'll be able to show you some great spots to catch all kinds of fish. You'll be targeting a range of species, including Pompano, Spanish Mackerel, Redfish, Speckled Trout, and Tarpon, each of which requires its own unique approach. Some of these fish rarely break 10 pounds, while Tarpon can grow to over 100! Given this huge range, don't be surprised if you switch tackle and rigging several times throughout your trip, as you pursue different species. We are a Do No Harm charter! All fish will be released. As Fly Fishing International Certified Casting Instructor, Richard can help tune up your cast or get you out there as a first timer. If you're using fly tackle, you'll likely be using 7 to 10-weight rods with saltwater reels designed specifically for the job. Equipment is provided, you will be using top of the line Thomas and Thomas fly rods with Tibor and Abel fly reels. You'll also use a range of flies, including surface poppers, streamers, and other kinds of imitators, all of which can entice different fish species. If you're using light tackle, you'll be using spinning rods and reels loaded with braided line. You'll also need a range of lures, including jigs, spoons, and soft plastics. Captain Richard will point you in the right direction, so you can be confident you're throwing the perfect tackle for the job! Fishing here in Pensacola/Gulf Breeze is a great way to enjoy Florida's beautiful coast and hook up some fantastic species! The fish are feeding—what are you waiting for? Read More

What types of tarpon fishing charters are common in Florida?

Deep Sea fishing is the most popular type of fishing for tarpon in Florida as well as inshore fishing, flats fishing, and nearshore fishing.

The most common fishing techniques in Florida are light tackle fishing, live bait fishing, and artificial lure fishing but bottom fishing and sight casting are popular as well.

How much do Florida tarpon fishing charters cost?

Prices for tarpon in Florida can range anywhere from about $500 to $1,194, but the average price for a half day trip for tarpon in Florida is $619. The average price for a full day trip for tarpon in Florida is $967.

Is booking a fishing guide worth the money?

Hiring a guide provides a number of benefits and many choose to book a fishing guide for a combination of experience, local knowledge, convenience, and cost-effectiveness.

Working with experienced fishing guides who know the best local spots and techniques can dramatically increase your odds of a great day. Having someone who is on the water every day and knows the area like the back of their hand is going to give you the best chances of success.

Booking a guide is also more cost effective, especially if you only get out a handful of times per year. When you consider all of the costs you would incur on your own such as the price of a boat, maintenance, insurance, gas, high-quality gear and tackle, repairs, and more, you’ll find that DIY is sometimes not worth the expense.

Even if you’ve got a great setup already in your home waters, booking a guide also provides a great opportunity to experience new techniques, new locations, or even a chance at a new target species to knock off the bucket list.

What month is best for tarpon fishing in Florida?

The most popular season for tarpon fishing in Florida is spring, and most anglers book their trips 24 days in advance.

Do I need a Florida fishing license for tarpon and what are the bag limits for tarpon in Florida?

Capt Kevin did a great job. Put us on a good spot for flounder. Water Temp had changed drastically and he still got us on the fish. Would definitely choose him again. Fun guy on the boat.

Alex, was great! Very personable and friendly. Fishing was tough, but it can be when it’s hot. He got us on some fish and got my wife a shark! That was all she asked for on her birthday! Thanks Alex!

We had an absolutely amazing time deep sea fishing with Captain Anthony! He is a fun and knowledgeable fisherman with LOTS of experience and great stories (ask him about how he’d dive for lobsters to impress his dates). He does all the work but lets you learn and participate as much or as little as you want. We knew we had an expert when we heard the radio chatter of all the other guides complaining that nothing was biting, while we pulled in six (only four mahi in pic). The other two were a small tuna and a ~32” barracuda). We highly recommend Kilo Whiskey Charter & Captain Anthony!

Spent a half day out with Captain Kenneth! Had an amazing day fishing for black drum, mango snapper, tarpon, and snook. He did an awesome job running the boat and keeping everyone going and hooking the big ones! The questionable weather in Florida didn’t stop us from having a good time. Thank you for the great day!

Wow! We had the most amazing fishing trip yesterday with TJ! My nephew can't stop talking about it! We spent 4 hours out fishing and caught several different types of fish including jack fish and a barracuda. TJ spent time with him, showed him how the equipment on the boat worked, and helped him find and reel in the fish- he was wonderful. The time went by too quickly! The boat had plenty of snacks, he even had some sunscreen when I realized I forgot ours in the car. Thank you so much, TJ, for an amazing 4 hour trip that is the highlight of my nephew's summer vacation!

Captain Todd is a wonderful fishing guide! My daughter and I chose the sunset fishing excursion and we’re not disappointed! Not only did we get to fish in great spots, we also were cool and comfortable on a beautiful evening. We highly recommend this experience. The memories we made will last us a lifetime. She caught her first salt water fish, and I was excited to see her excitement. The dolphins I saw up close were amazing! Thanks again, Todd!

It was a great time with Capt. Billy. We had a great time. Enjoyed every minute of the trip. Would definitely book with Billy again.

We had a great trip with David. He arrived at the dock on time ready to go. He's got a nice, open, boat with a center console so it was easy to move around. We moved around the inter coastal area between Anna Maria and Long Boat fishing for snook, red fish, and trout. Anytime we weren't getting bites we'd move. David worked very hard to keep all of us in fresh bait, and good locations. He knew a ton about the local fish, currents, depths, and regulations. We also got to see several manatees which was such a lovely bonus! When my son hooked a big red fish David gave him great guidance to help him bring it in. He was easy to talk to and we are already recommending him to our friends. We will definitely book again next time we're in the area.

Rey S. with David B. of Bradenton Beach, Florida

Had a great time with Captain Chris today. Caught a lot of fish and had a lot of laughs. Had an unforeseen technical issue but Captains Mike and Chris took care of it with grace and humor. We’ll be back.
