trip description for West Texas Hog Hunts with Lodging! in Trent

Bobby and his team offer hog hunting year-round. Texas' wild hog population is 1.5 million which is the largest number by a long shot in the nation. Wild boar hunts can be just as exhilarating as a grizzly bear hunt. Especially when hunters get up close and personal with a big one. The largest on record was whopping 1,051 lbs. All in all, our goal is to put you on as many hogs as possible and have you bring home the bacon! All of our hunts include lodging and meals, but not beverages. Their fully outfitted hog hunts typically consist of 3 days and 2 nights, but can be customized to whatever your needs are. Before you arrive our guides will have already conducted days of scouting on your behalf. They will prep sites that provide hunters with the best chance at harvesting a hog. Typically, or hog hunts are done at night out of stands over feeders with motion lights. Thermal gear is not required whatsoever, but more than welcome. All of our hunts include lodging and meals, but not beverages. Read More

trip description for 2 Day+ Sandhill Crane Hunts in Abilene

Get excited for an epic crane hunting adventure with Pro guide Cash and his team. Bag limits in Zones A and B are 9 birds a person. Bring your 12 gauge shotguns and steel shot size #6, #4, or #2. Lodging and meals are not included in the price of the hunt, but local hotels and airbnbs in the Abilene area are very affordable and easy to find. Hunts are conducted on private leases in the surrounding area. A typical Crane hunt begins one hour before sunrise. Our hunting clients typically help set up our Crane decoys and begin helping to set up our mobile Crane Blind. We do not require, but rather invite our clients to help with set up as it allows us to deploy the decoys and blind with less help in the field. The faster we set up and load out the gear after the hunt, the more time our clients have to travel. We do not wear our clients out by packing too much gear, we just ask for a little help to ensure a safe and productive experience. Sandhill cranes require far fewer decoys than your average goose hunt. Once everything is set up and the sun starts to rise the hunt begins. Hunts will run until around 11am but more often than not you'll reach your limit far before then! Read More

This fun and exciting sport is guaranteed to get your heart pounding, with plenty of action in the field followed by a freezer full of delicious results. It's also a great way to enjoy the natural beauty of West Texas, relax and take some time for yourself, and maybe even make a new friend or two. If that sounds like a good time, you're in the right place. Read on to learn all that you need to know to before you go to West Texas to hog hunt. We'll cover everything from the state's legal requirements and successful field strategies for Texas hog hunting to tips on finding the best Texas hog hunting ranches. First and foremost, you'll need to invest in proper hog hunting gear. This will include your choice of weapon, gun or bow, as well as a good knife and potentially a pistol or additional sidearm. You'll also want to bring binoculars and camouflage clothing for both warm and cool weather. Wild boars have an excellent sense of smell, so it's also helpful to have some scent eliminator handy. While you're away from home, you'll also need some comfortable clothing for relaxing around the lodge and basics like a field backpack, water bottle, and snacks. Don't forget to bring any medications and toiletries that you'll need and a couple of hefty coolers for taking your freshly processed meat home. Lastly, it's important to mention that many hunting ranches are self-catering, including Sandfork Ranch. So, you'll need to bring all of your food and drinks from home, but you will find a fully stocked kitchen where you can prep and cook meals. Read More

Hiring a guide provides a number of benefits and many choose to book a hunting guide for a combination of experience, local knowledge, convenience, and cost-effectiveness.

Booking a guide is also more cost effective, especially if you only get out a handful of times per year. When you consider all of the costs you would incur on your own such as the price of a boat, maintenance, insurance, gas, high-quality gear, repairs, and more, you’ll find that DIY is sometimes not worth the expense.
