trip description for Fly Fishing Galveston in Galveston

If you thought that fishing in Galveston started and ended with the Bay, think again. The grassy flats and backwater fishing here is incredible, and provides a perfect opportunity to go after big Redfish, Black Drum, and Sheepshead—all on the fly! Captain Collin is a true expert when it comes to flyfishing this area, and he knows all the local hot spots so you can be confident that you'll get on the fish. You'll be fishing from Captain Collin's 18' Bossman Tortuga shallow stalking skiff. She's an ideal boat for maneuvering through the tidal back bays and flooded marshes around Galveston. Captain Collin will pole you around with deft skill and post up in inches of water looking for pushes, tails, and shadows lurking in the dark colored water. Captain Collin will provide you with all the equipment you need including flies, rods, and reels. All you need to bring is proper clothing, a cooler for snacks and drinks, your Texas Saltwater Fishing License, and sunblock. Also, be sure to have polarized sunglasses and a camera to capture the memories! Read More

I had a great trip with Captain Colin sight fishing for redfish in the Galveston Bay. While the fishing was slow and water conditions were not ideal (we only saw 3 fish), Captain Colin made the experience enjoyable. This was my first experience sight fishing for redfish, and Captain Colin was a good instructor teaching me the techniques and the biology of the fishery. Overall, a great experience.

Capt Collin is an excellent guide, knows the water, likely hot spots and, although not a novice with a fly rod, is probably very patient and willing to teach. Equipment well maintained and organized. I highly recommend Collin.

Colin worked hard in poor conditions with a red tide running most of the fish out. Finally hooked up late in the day.

Captain Collin was awesome. Pre-trip communication was timely and informative setting the stage for a successful day. From the moment we met, I could tell that this wasn’t going to be 8 hours with a stranger, but more like a friend I hadn’t met yet. As for the fish, he put us in the right spot multiple times and never stopped searching leading to a late trip score. I would highly recommend Captain Collin as a guide and will absolutely be back out with him again.
