Captain Jim offers Rockport fishing charters for Redfish, Speckled Trout, and Flounder. Captain Jim was born in Mission, Texas and grew up calf roping and team roping on horseback in Kyle, Texas on a 3,000 acre working cow/calf ranch. He's brought that same competitive spirit to his fishing charters for 17 years and counting.
Captain Jim fell in love with saltwater fishing about 20 years ago and never looked back. He fishes the inshore bays and backwaters of the Texas Coastal Bend from Port O'Connor and Seadrift, Texas to Rockport, from Espiritu Santo Bay to Aransas Bay. Book with him and see what it's all about!
Climb aboard with Captain Jim and experience an amazing day of inshore fishing on the Texas Gulf Coast! Captain Jim launches his trips from Seadrift down to Rockport, depending on the weather, the season, where the fish are biting hardest, and most importantly: where you're located. That's right, Captain Jim is willing to travel for you to ensure you have the best fishing experience. On these 4, 6, or 8-hour adventures, you’ll mainly be reelin’ in Redfish, but Captain Jim loves to target Trout as well. On a good day, you can hit a "Texas Grand Slam" and catch a Redfish, a Speckled Trout, and a Flounder in one trip! You’ll need to bring a valid Texas Fishing License with a saltwater stamp as well as some food and drinks. Other than that, Captain Jim will take care of the rest. He’ll provide all rods, reels, tackle, and bait. He will also provide ice and an ice chest for your day’s catch. These trips can accommodate four people, so make sure you bring some good company! Four Stars because the folks are still raising the bar on perfection! My son and I share birthdays and decided we'd like to try a trip out of Rockport. Found Captain Experience on Google and that started a great trip. Communication, planning and efficiency are all traits these folks have got down. Once a trip was decided, booked on line, deposit online, excellent updates and communication until the day of the trip. Captain Jim and I spoke prior to the trip where he inquired about any limitations or special needs or requests. Trip day the captain was on the water at the dock as specified and we were off. Short boat ride to the first stop and put a few small reds in the boat. Saw several firsts on this trip... a lizard fish, schools of thousands of cow nose rays and my son acting like a little kid again he was having so much fun. It was a rough day on the water fishing wise, Captain Jim kept us entertained and also hit multiple locations that should have been fishy but were not. That's why it's called fishing and not catching. Bottom line is through Captain Experience we got to have a day on the water with an outstanding guide that would not have happened otherwise. My son and I both had a great time just fishing and having fun. 10 out of 10 would do this "4 star" experience again. …

I booked a last minute trip with captain Jim from the captains experience site while visiting my parents in San Antonio. 4 of us went out with Jim on july 9 after very heavy rains. I'm talking 20 inches. The whole town was flooded but he still managed to get us on the water. Jim did his absolute best to try and put us on the fish. We fished Rockport to Port Aransas but just couldn't find the fish. The weather was great.
