About Your Guide

Profile photo of Captain Experiences guide Dan

Visiting Sanibel Island as a child, Captain Dan was always the one to disappear all-day fishing all around the Island. That expanded once he moved permanently in 1991. Now with over thirty years of exploring the area, he is happy to share his experience with those who enjoy being on the water.

He has owned several boats in the past. His favorite being an Indian River Canoe. He used to love getting into those really shallow creeks and oyster bars. Fishing out of a Maverick 18 HPX, he'll take you to most of those shallow areas and still allow you to explore multiple locations in one trip!

Although he'll use live bait from time to time, he specializes in teaching the art of artificial lure presentations.

Sanibel Saltwater Adventures Trips

Join Captain Dan to customize a perfect day on the water out of Fort Meyers! Little fishing in the morning. Bring a picnic lunch at a private beach location. Little shelling in the afternoon, or if you'd rather chase your next trophy the whole time he can't help with that as well! Captain Dan is all about catering to your preferences and wants to help you plan a memorable experience! Captain Dan likes to run trips around Sanibel, Captiva, Cayo Costa, Pine Island, and Matlacha, but also runs trips in farther destinations like the Everglades, Cape Romano, and 10,000 Islands for an additional 75$ charge if you are interested in exploring a little further from home base! Depending on where you choose to go and what you’re aiming for, you could have opportunities at Redfish, Snook, and Trout, to Tarpon and a variety of Snapper species while out there with Dan. Capt. Dan will supply everything you need for a productive day of fishing, including rods, reels, and tackle. Though he'll use live bait from time to time he is truly a master of artificial bait presentation and loves to show his clients the wonders of light tackle sight fishing. He’ll also provide bottled water, though you’re free to bring any other snacks and refreshments you’d like to enjoy. At the end of the day, he’ll clean and bag your catch for easy transport home. My son and I had an awesome time. Daniel took us to several different locations. We fished with live bait, lures, and moved around to find different kinds of fish. Daniel had fantastic knowledge of the area and made it a lot of fun. Enthusiastically recommend!

I had a free day between and wedding and a conference, so I booked a day on the water with Captain Dan. Had a blast! We fished hard and caught fish. Dan was absolutely great. I’ve fished in a lot of places with a lot of guides. I think Dan was the best so far. If I’m ever back in Fort Myers, I’ll go out with Dan again.

Captain Dan is an expert at what he does. He provided all of our fishing equipment and took us to all of the best spots. The best part of all was the time he spent with my son to teach him highly successful techniques that I know will remain with him for a lifetime. Highly recommend this outing!

I had the pleasure of fishing a day with Capt. Dan around Sanibel and I can’t recommend Capt. Dan enough. The day was filled with non-stop hook ups of trout, snapper, jacks, and a snook (minus the bigger snook I lost). Capt. Dan is incredibly knowledgeable about the area and the fishery as well as the multiple species of fish and the best ways to catch them. He is also very patient and an excellent teacher. His equipment and boat are top of the line, very clean, and well maintained. My wife came along on the trip and he went out of the way to make sure she was comfortable and had a great time as well. Capt. Dan is very personable and highly competent at what he does. If you’re looking to book a trip do yourself a favor and book Capt. Dan. You won’t be disappointed!

A great day of fishing with my son. Included one of those “the one that got away” moments. Could not recommend Captain Dan highly enough. Captain Dan was knowledgeable, personable, extremely helpful, and made for a great trip out on the water. I highly recommend a trip with Captain Dan and will look him up the next time I’m in Ft. Myers.

We had an amazing time!! Dan was an excellent captain. He was very helpful, knowledgeable and flexible throughout the entire trip. We caught all sorts of fish! We got to keep some of the fish and he filleted them up for us at the end of our trip. They cooked up excellent! We also had dolphin, manatee, and shark encounters. He will also take you to beaches to cool off and go shelling! It was a GREAT day!!!

Booked this trip less then 24 hours before departure. Captain sent a message extremely fast confirming our morning meet. Maybe 30 minutes into our trip I nailed a HUGE jack. The pre-historic Jack got off as soon as I reached for my phone, go figure. We continued to catch speckled trout, snapper, lady fish, Jack and snook for the remainder of our trip. Captain was extremely attentive and gave pointers on how to attract more fish while cast and retrieving. And every pointer worked. By the end of the trip I felt like a pro and as if I’ve gained a friend. Literally the best trip I’ve been out on. Big fish, abundance of species and a down to earth Captain, literally everything I was looking for. Every time I’m on this end of Florida I now have a preferred private charter. Thanks Cap
