Captain Shannon is a California native who has lived in the Orange County beach communities for decades. He started back in 2015 and has persevered as one of the few full-time 4-pack charter skiffs out of Newport. He's proud to be running his 8th season and loves taking out all types of anglers. His favorite type of fishing is for Yellowtail and Tuna when they are "foaming" on the surface. Everyday on the water is different, and he enjoys the challenges of fishing in all conditions.
Captain Shannon hopes to have you on board, whether you're a seasoned angler or brand new to ocean fishing. He has access to a great fishery off the Southern California Bight, and can't wait to go fishing everyday. He takes great pride in his vessel, and is always upgrading her to make her one of the best fishing platforms out there.
For this fun trip, you'll fish the local coast of Orange County with its reefs, man-made structures, kelp beds, and points. You can go wherever the fish are biting, but some favorite spots are the Santa Ana River Jetty and Newport Artificial Reef—both are famous for very large White Seabass, Yellowtail, and Halibut. Calico Bass can also be found at all these spots and are really fun to reel in. This is a great trip to maximize your fishing time, because you're staying fairly close to shore. This trip adds a few more options compared to the half-day trip. This puts some spots that are a little further away into striking distance. This trip can venture out to the famous 150-spot where Yellowtail fishing thrives, or run down south to the Barn Kelp where Seabass love to hang.
